Many people have come to know the foundress of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, Blessed Mary Catherine Kasper, through their association with the Sisters and our works. They have felt strong attraction to her charism, wishing to integrate it into their lives as lay persons, single or married. There are close to 200 associates in the United States, while in Mexico the group is just beginning, with two small communities, in Coatzacoalcos VER and San Ildefonso, QRO. Commitment is made after a year or two of preparation.

Here is how they describe their mission.

Mission Statement:

We the members of the Community “Following the Footsteps of Catherine” are baptized adults who make a temporary non-vowed commitment in the Spiritual Family of Catherine Kasper, with the goal of mutual enrichment and accompaniment, development of community, and fostering of service, especially with the poor and powerless, as we live simply and remain faithful in prayer.

This relation is based on the common call of the of the Holy Spirit to live the charism of Blessed Mary Catherine Kasper, foundress of the Congregation of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ.
